The Classical Piano Syllabus is designed specifically for the aspiring classical pianist. Each grade has a thorough technical work component and requires four pieces in baroque, classical, romantic and modern styles.
This syllabus is suitable for all dedicated students, especially those who in higher grades may have a view to securing a scholarship and University admissions worldwide.
The complete syllabus may also be viewed as essential groundwork for entry into specialist music schools, tertiary music institutions and international piano competitions.
Individual grade levels may be determined by viewing the Sample Syllabi Pieces page and candidate may choose their own repertoire for their examination level.
The syllabus incorporates Preparatory levels 1 and 2, Preliminary, Grades 1 to 12, plus Fellowship Award.
Preparatory Level 1 and 2: Two pieces, Own Choice.
Preliminary to Fellowship; Four pieces comprising Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern.
Pieces may be drawn from the ICME syllabus OR Own Choice.
If opting for Own Choice, the syllabus listings can be taken as representative of the required standard for each level.
